Angela is a self-taught Encaustic artist. She was introduced to this wonderful medium, more than a decade ago, by a colleague who was an Encaustic artist.
Angela experimented with this meduim and soon discovered that she was in love. Using beeswax and resin, combining pigment, the application of shellac and the use of other natural materials are important elements in her work. She discovered quickly how forgiving this medium is - there is no such thing as a mistake! - and the possibilities are endless. The opacity and translucency in her work creates depth and determines what is visible and obstructed in view. Each layer, each pass of the torch, texture, colors and the wonderful aroma of this medium are all so incredibly therapeutic and rewarding.
